The coolest nights out, the most romantic sunsets, the tastiest paella and the most original festivities all await you in Valencia – traditional, radical, always Mediterranean.
Paella served with sea views
The Moors introduced rice to the city, paving the way for what soon became Valencia’s signature dish, and the hallmark of Spanish cuisine around the world: paella. You can sample some in one of the restaurants along the Playa de las Arenas, which offer panoramic views of the sea, or you can head to one of the eateries situated right in the heart of the Albufera Natural Park. It’s a feast for the senses. Bon appétit!
Experience the Fallas!
Experience our most international festival, the Fallas. Watch the mascletás (a type of firecracker) ignite the city, be moved by the Floral Offering, and enjoy the satire and humour of over 400 Fallas displays which adorn the streets and squares of Valencia from the 15 to 19 March. 24 hours of partying lie in store, with fireworks, rock concerts and open-air festivities in every corner of the city.
The coolest nights out
Enjoy the best snacks in seaside restaurants, have a drink in one of the hideouts tucked away in the Barrio del Carmen district, or in a 16th century mansion, then dance the night away at the water's edge. Just some of the options which await you in the Valencian moonlight.
Shopping
It’s the fusion of traditional handicrafting, together with a touch of modernity and the avant-garde which make Valencia a cosmopolitan city with a buzzing commercial scene. If urban shopping is your thing, lose yourself in the old town, or in areas such as Ruzafa or Eixample, where fashion and design come together.
The most refreshing swig: Horchata
Don’t miss out on this popular brew made from a fruit grown only in Valencia: the tiger nut. There’s no sweeter accompaniment to this drink than the traditional fartons (long sponge biscuits). Exquisite! Choose a bar terrace to enjoy one right in the heart of the city – it’ll taste even better!
Touring the Turia Gardens on bicycle
A bicycle ride through the Turia Gardens will make you feel at one with nature whilst being in the centre of the city. The nine-kilometre route starts off from the Cabecera Park. From here, you can see museums, monuments and bridges dating from the late medieval period up to the present day as you pass by. The pièce de résistance — arriving at The City of Arts and Sciences.
Albufera - the best sunset
One of the best ways to see one of Europe's most valuable environmental and ecological spots, the Albufera Natural Park, is with a boat trip — even better if you take your trip at dusk. Nature’s golds and oranges merge together, creating this spectacular sight each evening.
Sporting adrenaline in Valencia
Every year, the Formula 1 Grand Prix Championship, the Valencia Open 500 (tennis) and the Global Champion’s Tour put Valencia firmly on the global sporting map, attracting thousands of fans who hope to see their sporting idols triumph. These competitions are welcomed with unique shows, adding a special touch to host cities' calendars worldwide.
A catamaran around the Mediterranean
To the soundtrack of chill out music, with the lapping of the waves in the background, the heat of the evening sun on your back, and a glass of cava in hand, let Mundo Marino sail you around the Mediterranean coastline aboard their catamaran, in the ultimate setting: the sun setting over Juan Carlos I Royal Marina. What more could you ask for?
Tapas
Grilled cuttlefish, steamed mussels, serrano ham, clams, esgarraet, baby squid and patatas bravas all delight diners at various hotspots in the market place, extending to the Lonja (the Silk Exchange), Plaza del Collado, Plaza del Negrito, and the bars along Calle Caballeros, finishing up at the Plaza de la Virgen. A cold beer or a glass of sangria are the most typical accompaniments.
