CRUISE LINERS SAIL FROM VALENCIA

As a major port city, Valencia is getting ready to welcome the thousands of cruise passengers who will alight there in the coming months. After a year that broke records for the arrival of cruise liners, with nearly 200 stopovers and 400,000 passengers, the port is preparing for the construction of a new terminal that will allow several ships to dock at the same time, as well as larger cruise liners.

Five companies will be setting off on their cruises from the port of Valencia in 2012. The Orchestra, from the company MSC, will leave Valencia every Tuesday from the 17th of April to the 9th of October, with stopovers at Ibiza, La Goulette, Catania, Naples, Livorno-Florence and Villefranche. The Adventure of the Seas, from Royal Caribbean, will visit Civitavecchia, Livorno, Ajaccio, Corsica and Malaga, leaving every Sunday from the 29th of April to the 9th of September. Iberocruceros has several routes on its programme, including two for Easter Week that set sail on the 30th and 31st of March with different stopovers, as well as Aires del Mediterráneo (Mediterranean Airs), leaving on the 28th of April, and the Cálido Mediterráneo (Warm Mediterranean) I and II circuits, which leave on Saturday the 7th and 21st of April and the 22nd and 29th of October. Pullmantur's Empress liner will set sail on Saturday the 29th of September and Saturday the 6th, 13th and 20th October on its Legends of the Mediterranean circuit, stopping over at Valetta in Malta, Messina, Naples, Cagliari and Palma de Mallorca, while Costa Cruceros is leaving Valencia every Friday in April, with stopovers at Marseille, Savona, Civitavecchia, Palermo and Palma de Mallorca.

What's more, with Royal Caribbean and AVE you can board at the ‘Port of Atocha' in Madrid, travelling to Valencia via train where you will set off on your Mediterranean cruise.

Once in Valencia, cruise passengers can enjoy a quick, easy and convenient way of getting around the city with the VALENCIA CRUISE CARD, a card designed for the needs of cruise tourists. It provides discounts on taxi tours, tourist services, shops, museums and restaurants, and also includes the 15-minute shuttle bus journey from the port to the city centre, run by the Valencia Tourism Foundation. The bus has three stops: one outside Europe's largest aquarium, the Oceanogràfic, another at the City of Arts and Sciences, and the third in Calle Navarro Reverter, just minutes away from the city centre. The shuttle service is available whenever buses are not provided by the cruise liner itself.

The Valencia Cruise Card can be purchased for €10 from Tourist Information Offices or from Turisvalencia, with a 10% discount.
