A vibrant local music scene is evidence of a Valencian musical tradition that goes back centuries, a passion that has been passed from generation to generation. Valencian people are brought up with music in their blood.
If fire is the number one element of the festivals of Valencia, then the musical soundtrack comes a very close second: music is an integral part of the culture and character of the people.
But, music is not only confined to the festivals. Valencia has a variety of concert halls, auditoriums and smaller venues where all kinds of musical styles can be enjoyed throughout the year: from huge rock concerts to the intimacy of a jazz or blues club; from classical to flamenco.
With the Palau de la Música, the city has a state-of-the art concert hall, worthy of Valencia's profound musical heritage and this will soon be joined by one of the world's most spectacular venues for the performing arts with the opening of the Palau de les Arts, part of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (The City of Arts and Sciences) complex.
